After the diaphragm coupling is assembled on the shaft, we should carefully check the verticality and coaxiality of the gear coupling to the shaft. Generally, two dial gauges are set on the end face and the outer circle of the gear coupling. When the wheel turns the shaft, observe the full runout of the gear coupling (including the end face runout and radial runout), and determine the perpendicularity and coaxiality of the coupling and the shaft. Different speeds and different types of coupling have different requirements for full runout. After coupling is assembled on the shaft, ensure that the deviation value of full runout of diaphragm coupling is within the tolerance range required by the design, which is one of the main quality requirements of coupling assembly. There are many reasons why the total runout value of diaphragm coupling does not meet the requirements, which may be due to the error caused by processing. And for the field assembly, due to the improper assembly of the key causes the coupling and shaft are not coaxial. The correct installation of the key should make the two sides of the key closely fit with the wall of the keyway. It is generally checked by coloring method during assembly. If the fit is not good, it can be repaired by file or shovel knife to make it meet the requirements. The top of the key generally has a gap, about 0.1-0.2mm. High coaxiality is required for coupling and shaft in high-speed rotating machinery. Single key connection can not get high coaxiality, but double key connection or spline connection can perfect the coaxiality of both.
