The difference between diaphragm coupling and tooth coupling

Diaphragm coupling is mainly composed of left and right half coupling, diaphragm group, intermediate, bolt, anti-loose nut, cushion block and other parts. Its working principle is: torque input from the left half coupling, through the active high-strength bolt transmission to the diaphragm group, the diaphragm group then through the driven high-strength bolt transmission torque to the intermediate, the same torque through the other end of the diaphragm group, high-strength bolt and the right half coupling output. The diaphragm is commonly used in the structure of spoke, ring, connecting rod, multilateral, girdle. Wheel type and connecting rod type is the early form, ring type is relatively simple, but the flexibility is poor, currently commonly used or multilateral and binding waist type. In particular, the girdle is close to the same strength, good flexibility, low stress around the bolt hole, small centrifugal force, the removal of excess mass, speed can also be improved. According to the field investigation of enterprises, most of them choose girdle diaphragm. The thickness of the diaphragm is 0.2-0.6mm, and the diaphragm group is composed of a corresponding number of overlapping diaphragms.

Diaphragm coupling has the advantages of both rigid coupling (such as gear coupling) and elastic cancellation coupling (such as elastic sleeve pin coupling), compared with tooth coupling:

① Long service life;

(2) The diaphragm type is adapted to the misalignment of the axis by means of the deflection of the component itself, so it avoids the relative slip or rolling friction contact of the tooth surface of the tooth coupling, so it does not need lubrication and saves the complex lubricating oil system;

The axial thrust is small, only a fraction of the tooth type.

Comparison with elastic sleeve pin coupling:

(1) The diaphragm coupling operates under the installation condition of angular deflection, and its transmission efficiency is higher than that of the elastic pin coupling, which has the effect of energy saving;

(2) The diaphragm coupling operates under the installation condition of angular deflection and has strong adaptability. After 2 hours of operation of the elastic pin coupling under the condition of 20 deflection, all the elastic rings are damaged, while the diaphragm coupling moves normally without damage.

③ Diaphragm coupling has good damping, especially in the speed of 10000 RPM above the vibration is very small, this good performance is especially suitable for the transmission system of piston motor and mining machinery, caterpillar vehicle transmission.

Because the diaphragm coupling meets the requirements of the wind turbine for the elastic cancellation coupling, and has more excellent performance than other elastic cancellation coupling, the connection between the high-speed shaft of the growth gear box of the megawatt wind turbine and the rotor shaft of the generator uses the diaphragm coupling.
