A little bit about couplings

(1) The type characteristics of the coupling

Rigid coupling: the rigid coupling does not have the ability to compensate the relative deviation of the two shafts, nor does it have the buffering and damping performance; But the structure is simple and the price is cheap. Only when the load is stable, the speed is stable, and the relative deviation of the two axes is minimal, can the rigid coupling be selected.

Flexible coupling of inelastic components: large bearing capacity, but also does not have cushioning performance, at high speed or speed instability or often positive, reverse, impact noise. Suitable for low speed, heavy load and steady speed.

Coupling: the structural feature is that there is a safety link (such as pin movable connection, etc.), which can only withstand a limited load. When the actual load exceeds the load defined in advance, the insurance link changes, cutting off the transmission of motion and power, so as to protect the rest of the machine from damage, that is, the protective effect.

(2) the function of coupling

Coupling is a part that connects two shafts axially and transmits torque and motion, and has the necessary ability to compensate two shafts offset. In order to reduce the vibration of mechanical transmission system and reduce the impact peak load, the coupling should also have the necessary cushion-damping performance. Coupling also sometimes serves as overload protection.

(3) The selection principle of coupling:

For neutral: for neutral good selection of rigid coupling, flexible coupling to compensate;

Assembly and disassembly: considering the convenience of assembly and disassembly, the coupling can be directly moved in radial direction;

Environment: if working at high temperature, the coupling with non-metallic elements is not optional;

Cost: under the same conditions, try to choose low price, simple maintenance coupling
