What should be considered when choosing a universal coupling?

Specific selection of universal coupling can consider the following points:

1) The size and nature of the torque to be transferred, as well as the requirements for cushioning and damping functions.

2) Reliability and working environment of universal coupling. The coupling containing rubber and other non-metallic components is more sensitive to temperature, corrosive media and strong light, and easy to aging.

3) Manufacture, installation, maintenance and cost of universal coupling. On the premise of satisfying the convenient performance, the universal coupling with convenient assembly and disassembly, simple maintenance and low cost should be selected. For example, the rigid coupling is not only simple in structure, but also convenient in assembly and disassembly. It can be used for low speed and large rigid drive shaft. General non-metallic elastic element coupling, because of its good comprehensive ability, is widely used in general medium and small power transmission.

4) the working speed of the universal coupling and the centrifugal force caused by the size. For high speed drive shaft, the universal coupling with high balance accuracy should be selected.

5) The size and direction of relative displacement of the two axes. When it is difficult to maintain strict and accurate alignment of the two axes after installation adjustment, or the two axes will produce large additional relative displacement in the process of work, flexible coupling should be selected.
